Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan began studying Aikido in 1968 at Kokugakuin University in Tokyo. In 1976 he followed Saotome Shihan to the United States and established the Boulder Aikikai in 1980. That year he also began Summer Camp in the Rockies, an annual week-long training camp that hosts top instructors from all over the world.
